What are your preferred handbags, bags you walk around with?
Is there one style that is dominating in your wardrobe or do you prefer the mixture - the perfect type of handbag for every single occasion or is it rather "one size fits all"?
Do you go for small, tiny handbags or the big bags where you can walk around with half of your household?

Ladies and gents I would like to know where your preferences are!

There was a time when I liked big bags well not as big to put half of my household  grin but enoght big
to put all the things I may need.  Toothy12
And because I studied in an Art school there were always plenty of paints, pencils and brushes in my bag  grin
Now I'd prefer to wear a small bag that can hold only things of first importance and a shoulder-bag would
be my choice as I'm not very into the formal style. Well if I have to wear something formal for a special occasion
I would choose a small purse smiley

grin University is a time of big bags... I never did art, but always had tons of books I carried around with me.
My work bags were rather function and small.
And since being mother, I joined the big handbag community again, preferably messenger bag types - seven years ago they were stuffed with diapers, extra clothes... now there are children books, sport stuff, colours (my daugther is totally into painting and arts and can paint everywhere). But as my little princess is getting older I try to separate bags and I try to get back to smaller bags - at the moment I totally fancy a shoulder bag that is variable, i can but books into there, but if I only have my mobile, keys and money I can fold it to a smaller format. So neat!

Yea, wearing a big bag is sometimes necessity than preference
but most of the women prefer to have everything in hand  grin although
some women never know why they cary some of the things in their bags,
they're just got used to that  smiley and feel like something is missing
if their bag is not heavy enough  grin I personally try to reduce my bag contents.

Nice to hear your daughter loves painting smiley and you encourage her  Wink
I remember myself drawing since I was a small kid and thanks to my father who was an art amateur
and encouraged me all the time I went to an art school and became a designer smiley

Yup! so true!
Big bags are practical - e.g. I can go shopping and take some stuff with me, and not needing an extra plastic bag... Or got to work and take a water bottle... Or carry the stuff of your daughter.

Yes, definitely! We are lucky, our little monster can interest herself in everything. At the moment art is a big thing and she loves to hear a lot about artists, go to museums. And for us ist is great too, and there are so many great kid books (just read one about a little girl, that is visiting Monet's living house - or we just read a biography about Leonardo Da Vinci). One never stops learning.

smiley It's nice to hear you're also having fun reading art books and exploring art with your daughter
kids always need parent's support  Wink

... to go back on the topic re bags smiley Do you think that some of the designer's bags are overestimated?
ie some of them have too high prices for what they are. I know with designer's stuff you always pay more
for the brand/quality but in my opinion sometimes it's just too much smiley

grin parents do need kid's support for lifelong learning (it is always give and get inboth directions)

Design and Price - that is a highly contested subject.

I think not only beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, quality as well does. For some quality is the material, for others functionality, for others quality of production, for others sustainable resources, for others manual work, for others the location of production - and for some it is the brand. I know people for whom it is important, that others see that they only wear clothes from exclusive designers, for others it is important to have an own style - wether they bought the skirt from Chanel, H&M, Gucci or Zara, it has to have a place within "a personal style". A friend of mine told me she never pays more than 25 USD for handbags.

You know there is a legend about Picasso painting a painting for a person who asked him to do so. He sketched it, handed it over. Asked for the price he demanded 5.000 USD. The potential customer was shoked, as it only needed  a few minutes to be done. The response of Picasso "It took me an entire life".

This summer I bought a handbag from a fashion design label I totally love. It was a big bag, named as diaper bag. After a month of using, the handels (plastic) started to "peel". Poor quality of material. That was definitely the last bag I bought from them. It still is a cutie, with a totally nice design. Beside extraordinary design, functionality and quality in material is key to me. I like handbags to use them, others use them as adornment, as style. Maybe Dutch mothers don't take their babies out a lot, or they don't need many diapers, who knows...

I know many people that prefer to buy/wear designer's clothes, bags, jewellery, not sure about the exact reason
but I'm sometimes disappointed by the quality of some designer's stuff.  smiley

Reading what happened to your new designer's bag I see it's not just me  Sad10 I think the problem is
that many fashion houses moved their manufactures in countries like China, Turkey, India
due to the fact that there is a cheap working hand (I'm not saying that in these countries they
don't produce quality things but they are expensive too). Some of the companies also don't make
enough tests of the materials they use and that's another problem some of the materials
can't last a month and having in mind the price you pay for designers things it's a waste of money. Shocked
So I personally would buy few cheeper bags, no matter how long I'll use them, at least I won't feel
sorry for the money if I have to throw them away after few months. smiley

Hey Deco,

Yes, price is no measure of quality.
I prefer to buy exceptional and exclusive bags - in my shop I see that there are a lot of people who are able to distinguish quality and like that the handbags we sell are handmade and produced in Europe. And I guess this trend to handmade and eclusivity is also to be seen in the US.
